We know Anika from her time living in Cardiff, however, knowing her as more of a promoter and general girl about town than as a recording artist, we have to say this new track on Stones Throw (produced by Geoff Barrow fom Portishead) came as something of a suprise. Much props and all the best to her indeed.

Due to the crazy last drops of summer, we've been shamefully sitting on this remix of the Deftones track Prince from the big bad Bassnectar camp for a little while. We have however, been moshing out hard to it since then, so thought it only fair to share it with those of you yet to pick it up. As with the CLAW remix of Change, it seems the Californian rock mongers suit the heavier side of Dubstep perfectly. Perhaps a new direction for their next album is due, there's certainly space for more Rockstep tracks.



Speaking of Bassnectar, keep an eye out for the new EP dropping on October 19th, with 6 brand new songs, plus remixes. Also, Mister Gray from South Florida hit us up with this dope little bootleg mixing up Teach Me How To Dougie by Cali Swag District with Bassnectar's Basshead. It's kinda fun, check it out.

In fine DIY form, the fellas over at bassmusicblog have started up their own label and just dropped their first release. Not only can you pick up the release itself, a deep and atmospheric rolling double header of Dubstep freshness from Setspeed, but you can also buy the individual stems for laptop DJs to play about with live, or any of you wanting to get on the remix tip. You can pick it up at all the usual outlets or from their Bandcamp page. For a taster check this killer vid from Nic Hamilton. It looks strikingly similar to something I saw whilst trying to close my eyes and sleep after taking too many trippy pills once actually.

Although we may have a little rant from time to time we generally only include stuff on the blog we're feeling. If it's s**t then we'll generally just ignore it. However from time to time something comes along that we're just not sure about. Pretty much all of the singles from Jammer's Big Dada album have left us either sitting on the fence with a splinter in our ass or scratching our heads, confuseled as the day we were ejected from the womb. His latest offering is no different. Is it pent up frustrated street poetics from a Grime pioneer, over a future thinking 'post' Dubstep beat... or is it the simple mumbled ramblings of an emcee struggling to find his place in the 'post' Grime world? I think we'll let you decide for yourselves cos we're still not sure if we love it or hate it.

From 2nd – 9th October, Run Vie, Vienna’s Hip Hop, Street Art & Electronic Music Festival returns to the city. Unfortunately our German is a touch too basic to tell you all the details but we certainly recognise enough of the acts playing to know it’s gonna be a good one. From Derrick May, the Detroit Techno pioneer to Stone Throw’s new Soul slinging Golden Boy Aloe Blacc, plus a particular penchant for such Chrome favourites as Free The Robots, Dorian Concept and Robot Koch, there is definitely enough exciting music in store to make us consider a road trip. To further outline this fact, Run Vie have put together a free compilation of music from some of their line up, with help from Carharrt, one of the Festival’s sponsor’s. Been a while since we heard anything from Elucid but it's more likely cos we've had our head up our arse then any lack of actual output from one of our favourite New York Hip-hop / Dubstep rhyme exponents. Some of you may remember the project we mentioned from him and El Carnicero called Capricorn One, well they're definitely one of the most smoking duos since Cheech & Chong and they've just dropped their first official single called Pandemonium.

Bit of Scouse Grime? First caught this dude on the opening track from the Squid Ninjaz' album Revenge Of The Blowfish, now he's just been signed up to Big Dada.

I appear to be a touch tipsy in this video but guess that's just the sign of a great festival. Big props to the guys over at Foo Magazine for putting this together, well looking forwards to Boomtown Fair next year.

Our amigo Parker has followed up killer bootlegs such as Where's My Monkey and his Dubstep version of It's A Man's World with another stormer. Taking Iron Man from Black Sabbath and building it up with some extra beefed up armour. Ready to take out anything in it's path with a hefty new Dubstep / Breaks makeover.

For anyone heading over to Bestival for the Weekend we shall be rocking the Chai Wallah tent on Thursday at 6.30pm and then Bestival Radio at 10pm on Saturday. We're taking Astroid Boys with us too so prepare for a hyper than hype set and some serious festival tomfoolery afterwards. As always the line up is second to none with headline slots from The Prodigy, Dizzee Rascal and Flaming Lips, however we're more small tent frequenters,so just as well there's plenty of crazy little off the wall areas to discover. Although we're a bit anti planning when it comes to festivals choosing to discover stuff by chance, some of our friends, family and favourites are all there so you might well catch us checking out some of these acts.

Chrome Kids' own DJ 0.000001, host of the Magical Bass radio show, has passed on. Yeah, he's dead! (Okay, well, the fact that his alter-ego, Th' Mole, is still alive might suggest that his death is actually nothing more than a desperate cry for attention.) The latest episode of Magical Bass features DJ 0.000001's usual serving of exclusive remixes interwoven with a "radio play" depicting DJ 0.0000001's last troubled moments, concluding with his violent murder!

What does this mean for the future of Magical Bass? Is it over? Will DJ 0.000001 be miraculously revived from the dead as a cyborg mummy DJ? Time will only tell - stay tuned...
