Still Number 1

By now you should have already checked out our latest radio show so it's time to tune in to another one. A few weeks ago all the four nations shows on BBC Radio 1 combined at Clwb Ifor Bach for a special show which featured live performances from Kobi Onyame (Scotland), Hot City (England), Not Squares (N Ireland) and Vanguard (Wales). I had a few words with Bethan Elfyn there about Chrome Kids and the Welsh Electronic music scene generally. The show also includes new tunes from Exotope, Monky and a track by CRST made especially for the show from samples collected by the four nation presenters on a record shopping mission round Cardiff. There's also a brief history of Welsh contribution to Dance music from GLC, name checking acts such as Llwybr Llaethog, K Klass, Jean Jacques Smoothie and High Contrast.

You can listen on the BBC iPlayer for another 5 Days (click on that link)

We're also sad to hear that Bethan is leaving her slot on BBC Radio 1, she's been an amazing beacon for quality Welsh music for over a decade and has been a great supporter of the Hip-hop, Dubstep, Drum & Bass and Electronic scenes generally, making sure they get a fair placing amongst the more established rock and indie formats. She even let us take over her show for a night!

Thankfully all is not lost and we place full faith in Jen Long who shall be stepping into the position. We're sure we haven't heard the last from Bethan though and we wish both of them all the best in their future phases.
