Although we may have a little rant from time to time we generally only include stuff on the blog we're feeling. If it's s**t then we'll generally just ignore it. However from time to time something comes along that we're just not sure about. Pretty much all of the singles from Jammer's Big Dada album have left us either sitting on the fence with a splinter in our ass or scratching our heads, confuseled as the day we were ejected from the womb. His latest offering is no different. Is it pent up frustrated street poetics from a Grime pioneer, over a future thinking 'post' Dubstep beat... or is it the simple mumbled ramblings of an emcee struggling to find his place in the 'post' Grime world? I think we'll let you decide for yourselves cos we're still not sure if we love it or hate it.

Bit of Scouse Grime? First caught this dude on the opening track from the Squid Ninjaz' album Revenge Of The Blowfish, now he's just been signed up to Big Dada.

Acts such as New Flesh and Gamma in many ways were ahead of their time with the sound they were putting out at the start of the decade and the end of the last. Although they didn't always hit home, the vision was certainly there and both of them should definitely be counted amongst the pioneers of the type of sounds we include here at Chrome Kids. One of the key members of both groups Juice Aleem has just dropped his his debut album (surely not?!) Jerusalaam Come and from what we've heard it seems that producer Part 2 in particular has finally grown into his sound and can rightly take his place at the forefront of the current scene.

The album launch parties in London (13th August @ Gramophone) and Birmingham (22nd August, Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath) will feature guest slots from the likes of Yarah Bravo, Triple Darkness, Cipher from Moorish Delta, Blackitude and Mad Flow and the London show will be hosted by Roots Manuva.

We are most excited about Fluorescent Black, the return album from digitally mutated Hip-hop innovators Anti-Pop Consortium, whose importance in the current climate of music has been scandalously overlooked. Although Beans has dropped a couple of dope projects on Warp, and both High Priest and M. Sayyid managed to sneak a few solo bits and pieces alongside their relatively un-noticed but heavily packed Airborn Audio project on Ninja Tune, this will be the first proper Anti Pop Consortium album since 2002's Arrhythmia (not including their 2003 collaboration with free-jazz pianist Matthew Shipp).

Pitchfork have just previewed this sneak preview from the album, Capricorn One is classic APC but then they were so ahead of their time in the first place that this is just as relevant now as it would have been then, if not more so.
