Moduloktopus was quite possibly our favourite Bass music producer of last year with more killer bootlegs then we could keep up with, mixing up Grime, Trap, Dubstep, Drum N Bass, Jungle and Juke influences but managing to make it sound more soulful and exciting than many of the others in those fields. Now he's offering his whole back catalogue of work for free download, so we suggest you grab it quick from the link below before he changes his mind.

Paul White has been on fire recently, working with rappers such as Danny Brown, Homeboy Sandman, and Sean Price. Bit slow on this video by the looks of it but it's from his collaboration with one of our favourite Grime emcees.

When it comes to the heavier end of Bass Music, very few can touch Starkey in my opinion. He's made consistently huge tunes for a while now, some truly defying all boundaries and pushing things to the limit. This is definitely one of his more accessible tunes and truth be told as a Starkey tune for me it doesn't quite make the grade, however as a great pop tune then it's head and shoulders above most of this kind so definitely deserves props. Plus the video's great, always love Starkey's explorations in Space, can someone please give hi ma Sci-Fi film to score.

Bad Panda Records just dropped the latest tune from Bodez, aka Chrome Kids founder Kaptin and fellow CK family member Leon Piers (aka Falcon Lake, also half of 22/22). It's little deeper and techy than most of their other work (more in line with some of the Falcon Lake material) but it's still grimey round the edges and has a killer bounce to it too. It's a free download so play it, pawn it and pimp it to the world.

Massive shout out to my boy CJ Beatz, who recently gave the chance to put together a guest mix for his R&B Mix show on BBC 1Xtra.

For those not in the know, he does a weekly feature called "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life", which showcases some of the best DJ-ing talent around the UK.

My mix comprises of recent Hip Hop, along with some R&B classics, Grime, and some remixes from the likes of Rustie & Hudson Mohawke. It was recorded in one take using 1200s and Serato Scratch Live.

Although the Faith SFX mixtape 'All From The Mouth' promised much, it never quite felt like it delivered properly. With the album 'Man Or Machine' though it seems that the talented Beatboxer's finally struck gold. With even more of an all star line up that includes a cross section of rappers such as Skibadee, Stig Of The Dump, Mystro, Wretch 32, P-Money, Ghetts and Lowkey (who features alongside John McClure on the excellent 'Revolution' that's been floating round a while and was on our 'Hulk hop Vs Crunk Rock Mixtape') , this would be a fantastic selection of Hip-hop/ Grime tracks without having to rely on novelty factors, but of course the fact that SFX has laid down some tight beats and basslines using (possibly just) his mouth certainly is an added bonus.

Snowbombing 2011 Mix by djcable

As a spot of promo for my upcoming gig with Yasmin in Austria on Monday, I decided to put together an exclusive Snowbombing mix, containing a bunch of upfront Grime, Dubstep and Hip Hop tracks, as well as the odd classic. It contains some of the tracks used in January's Annie Nightingale mix, but with a lot more scratching this time around!

So, here's a quick mix that I put together for this year's Valentines Day.

Rather than do another generic Slow Jams mix, this time around I've selected a bunch of love-themed Dubstep & Grime tunes (yes, they do exist!), alongside a healthy dose of misogynistic Hip Hop & Booty Bass in the latter half of the mix, plus a cheeky bootleg, and some material that's forthcoming on Triangulum!

The result? A mish mash of everything from JME, to Wiley, Three 6 Mafia, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, DJ Assault, Necro, Dizzee Rascal, Borgore, Ruckspin, Chromeo and more!

Elucid has been hard at work putting the finishing touches to his Super Chocolate Black Simian release which is out 11th January. Here's the first taste and think these are probably our favourite yet, even more menacing, intense, passionate and poetical than usual riding huge productions from Chasing Shadows and DVA. Not sure what type of war we'd ever want to get into, but whatever it is we've found our marching music.

Thursday 9th December: Astroid Boys - Welcome To The Zoo by cardiffartsinstitute

This track's from their new Mini Album dropping next week. You can get more tasters on last week's Chrome Kids show when luckily Traxx from the group managed to come to the studio with Curtamos last minute when my laptop was killed and all the tunes for the show lost.

Plus here's a new mix from DJ Comfort of the crew. Catch all the fellas alongside Magenta, Curtamos and a battle between Beatbox Major and Beatbox Fozzy on Thursday December 9th at Cardiff Arts Institute.

Okay so this week we started with a track off the new Terror Danjah album, if anyone was questioning the future of Grime we suggest it’s right here or perhaps it’s the next track that holds the key as Grime singer Maverick Sabre rips it over Starkey’s 'Holodeck' to massive effect with 'Run To The Roof'. Then out of Iceland is Hypno, with a Juke influenced slab of bass music for RAMP. Glasgow’s S-Type drops on his hometown label Phuturelabs with a Crunkstep track dedicated to wildlife badman 'Terry Nutkins'. Stateless have a fantastic album due next year on Ninja Tunes from which we take 'Miles To Go', if you want a Dark Sky remix of their single 'Ariel', you can grab it here. Our boys CRST provide a juicier than thou remix of the new single from Bloc Party frontman Kele whilst also from the South Wales area is Exotope who changes up his usual filth monsters for a stunning slice of House / Garage and even Monky steps ever closer to the House arena with his brilliantly named 'Potato Dolphins'. Skinnz drops a firing remix of 'Holy Mountain', the debut release from Talk, a recent signing for the Nightshifter’s label. Every mix on Shy FX’s forthcoming single 'Raver' is a killer, we opted for the MJ Cole one. The first Sub Swara album blew us all away and their forthcoming follow up 'Triggers' certainly doesn’t disappoint either. A weighty guest list includes members of Antibalas, Dead Prez and the track we played which features Lyrics Born (who also has a pretty dope funked up album As U Were that’s just dropped). Also on more of a Hip-hop tip is: DELS new single for Big Dada which once again is produced by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard; and Pigeon John’s ode to chore slacking 'To Do List'. Top this off with a J.O.H. remix of Ikonika’s 'Ikoniklast' and you have the show.
