I'm not sure who was behind this mini remix album for Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi, but top marks to them because there are some stunning collaborations. The album came out this week and includes contributions from Starkey, Phaeleh, Steven Siegel and Robert Lippok. You can buy a copy here.

From Chrome Kids and the oddball MC who taught us 'How To Be Cool' last year, Th' Mole's 'I Love Unicorns' is an unlikely rap song withheart, guaranteed to make anyone crack at least a small smile.
Setting himself apart from the slew of 'hipster hop' Th' Mole is a truly unique individual, as he proves irrevocably with the b-side track 'Shocky Guy Go' which features Asian strings, symphonic arrangements and lyrics rapped in an imaginary language.
In addition to remixes of the title track by Robot Koch (Kitty Yo/K7), The Flying Skulls (1320/Daly City), and up-and-coming producer Frietboer, there is also a printable Th' Mole paper doll included in the download!

Rather apt that it took us til St David's Day to upload our Welsh bass music mix for BBC 1Xtra to Mixcloud. If you haven't downloaded it yet take 20 minutes to go have a listen. Nearly alll the artists are from our home town of Cardiff and this scene is buzzing right now. There's no 'sound' to our city as such, but that diversity is what makes it so good. We shall all be back in the motherland next Monday for a gig at Buffalo with Rusko so if you're in the area make sure you reach.
We've been loving the first release due to drop on One4Ho, a new label from Mai Harper and Sophie Ruston (aka Ghettozoid). The track from Ghettozoid herself is called Seeking and is on some future garage space age flex, carrying some serious sonic depth with a fairly sinister bassline rumbling out out like a school of whales floating through the sonar system, whilst our favourite Bristolian diva Yolanda manages to add both upliftment and melancholoy, as she effortlessly stretches her rich soul vocals to the outer reaches of the universe.

Our favourite mix however is from Blue Daisy with a tripped out excursion, building up a bed of a crisp static crunch and dublike echoes. As if the tune had been dropped into a K hole and managed to float around in it without confusion, paranoia or looking like a complete c**t.

Monday not treating you so great? Why not get all Arts & Craft and build a tiny set of decks from matchsticks, sticky backed plastic and bottle lids then place your MP3 player underneath out the way but plugged up to your computer speakers (if you have battery powered ones all the better). Dig out your favourite action figure from the box in the attic to act as a DJ, head out into the garden and use these handy mixtapes as sets to play to all the insects... they'll love it.

We first came across David Starfire through his remixes for NY bass fusion crew Sub Swara, indeed it seems that David also shares their superb taste in Indian flavours and has cooked up a long play follow up to his Bombay Beatz EP. Bollyhood Bass is out now on Six Degrees and here's the first track from the album Sitarfire along with a bootleg remix of a certain Scouse quartet's Come Together (the album also features a cover version of their track Hey Jude, the first song the multi instrumentalist ever learnt on the guitar).

Just had this warm and fun little festive EP to help ease the ever decreasing temperature around Chrome Mansions. It's from the Black Power Arrangers, what appears to be a collaboration between THEE Satisfaction and erm, other people. It's essentially a beats snippets album of the Madlib kind with a lush blend of jazz, Hip-hop and electronic beats but using Christmas classics for the large part and the spirit of Christmas for the rest. As you might have expected we have been loving the new Elucid album. But we wanted to know if our feelings and thoughts on the Sub Bass Diet had any correlation to the feelings and thoughts that went behind making it, so we asked Elucid to break the spirit of the album down for us, turns out we are definitely on the same page.
Here's what he had to say...
The Sub Bass Diet is relevant because of its fearlessness. The old model of selling music has all but vanished and NOW is the time for artists to experiment and be bold enough to not really give a fuck about popular opinion. That spirit of rebellion has always informed my music and I stuck to my guns here with The Sub Bass Diet. I set out recording SBD without any sense of nostalgia for the past (and a thorough disgust for the present) I looked ahead and tried to make music I felt was a foundation for the future. Dubstep and other digital bass heavy rhythms only matched the vibes I was bringing across lyrically.
With the title playing on The South Beach Diet I imagined the music as a method to shedding the dead weight of life and stepping into new consciousness for myself. This is reflected throughout the project. Messages of self love, vision, purpose and determination are there for those who need it. But where there's love, trust there's destruction around the corner. Destruction of outdated ways of thinking,interaction, egomania, class/race/gender inequalities and all that separate us from truth.

We love getting new stuff from Kid 606's Tigerbeat6 label, because like the man himself, you never quite know what's in store but it's guaranteed to slap you in the face and make you listen. This time they've hit us up with the debut EP from French Glitch hop producer Humanleft and it's rather ginormous. It's like a big melting pot of our favourite things with elements of Acid Crunk, Ghettotech and Dubstep all in a phat bassed up, glitched out packed lunchbox of fun. You can pick up the EP from here.

We first heard of Cleveland Hip-hop crew Keyel after they hooked up with Flako on a blunted out excursion for their new mixtape. Now the mixtape has finally dropped in full force and it shows the fellas in fine form over a bunch of head bobbing future soul Post-Dillafied beats including this one produced by Sa-Ra.

Maybe it's all in the name but there must be something in the water over in Boulder, Colorado cos I swear a few of our favourite Glitch hop tracks recently have been from that direction. This free EP from Denver Bass Squad member Samples is no exception. 5 and a bit beats that are crunchier and crisper than a bowl of dry cornflakes and ten times as tasty.

Our boy Ralph Rips Shit just put us on to the Mixtape that came out earlier in the year from Fresh Daily (who also has a new album that dropped last month).
