You may well have noticed but things have changed around here some what, so despite being one of my favourite dance music labels, it's been a while since we posted anything from Sweat It Out on the blog. This new single from RÜFÜS feels like something of a change for them too however. Early morning / late night vocal House that's making me pine for an Ibiza sunrise and a nice villa veranda from which to watch it.

With a new generation of poppers starting to embrace Dubstep and Glitch hop there's something of a revival that has seen the art form progress somewhat, we're sure the same could be said of B-boying although we've seem little impressive work in recent times. Here's a subtle hint for practitioners of either discipline, if you're still only poppin or breakin' to music from between '73 to '93 and reject anything new, please kill yourself. You're killing the culture you claim to love and represent and we can't be f**ked with you... Just a small piece of Bill Hicksian advice.

Although both of these tracks have nods to the past they are representing the present and should be embraced by those who are finding it difficult to make the switch, call it Chrome Time Therapy. First up is from Tate La Rock who originally put his track together for a B-boy battle scene in a feature length movie and the second is from a new EP on Sweat It Out by recent Mad Decent remix competition winner Wax Motif.

We've had plenty of boomin' murkiness in our output recently but the sun's blazin' hard so we figured it was time to turn the heat up a touch and let the tunes reflect the light for a while.


Definitely in keeping with this vibe is a new track from A-ux entitled Less Hate, More Love. Created as a warming antidote to the world's current economic and social climate, it's 80's Electro optimism certainly does make your 'soul-glo' a little.

Currently back in South Korea getting ready for obligatory military service, we hope A-ux manages to push further his mission to bring people together through music and avoids too much craziness over those 2 years.


The production on this new track from Mos Def's album The Ecstatic is part jazz loungin', part 70s cop show but all sunshine as he sings 'bright light from a distant star'. And just like our closest gaseous guardian, he 'most definitely' spits fire on this one.

If you still can't shake the darkness then our advice is to dance your clart off and Sweat It Out with a little help from the audio assaulting Aussie label who bring you 30 tracks of 'Baile, Bassline, House and Hoover stabs' from the likes of: Armand Van Helden; South Rakkas Crew; and Oliver $ as well as members of the Sweat shop such as KillaQueenz, Edu K, Oh Snap!!, Yolanda Be Cool and Act Yo Age who also mixed the CD. CD 2 is a bunch of label remixes which are unmixed for all the DJs out there.

Besides my obvious woefulness at the loss of my girlfriend to the Himalayan peaks for 6 weeks (hey, our Chrome plating isn’t immune to feelings you know), there is an apparent bonus of not being sucked into 2 of Australia’s most caustic exports, Neighbours and Home & Away, for a valuable chunk of my life (I know just leave the room, but the devious little suckers just keep pulling you back in). Instead I shall concentrate on 2 of its finest exports, whom feed off each other in a wonderfully Electro-symbiotic relationship that brings danger to the dancefloor in the most wonderful of ways.

Act Yo Age release their new single Lucky 13 on the Sweat It Out label next week, just in time for Friday the 13th, although the track's more malevolent trickster than straight up evil slasher.

If you haven't picked up KillaQueenz single Bitches on Sweat It Out yet then sort it out. We’ve been rinsing the South Rakkas remix of hard but we’re as equally in love with this Ooh Ee re-rub which is just a touch more fun but no less filthy.

A while back we dropped you a preview of the Aussie based Rhymers Killa Queenz track Bitches that came out on the Grindin label last September. Well, seems like those Bitches didn't listen properly before cos the girls are back to drive by their asses with a plasma rifle. At least that's what this beefy and downright filthy South Rakkas Crew remix feels like. It's about to drop on Sweat It Out with additional remixes by Zombie Disco Squad, Yolanda Be Cool and ooh EE.
