Things seem to be busy in Cardiff this summer and we've had a number of various gems from our home town which we keep meaning to post. Here's a selection of some and we shall post a bunch more on Tuesday. Hopefully you would have already caught the new Monky, Paul B and Dead Residents mixes we posted recently. If not grab them here.


A few regular readers may remember previous tracks from Cardiff based duo Shadow Law (aka Lex Umbra). Well producer / rapper Ming from the pair has just released a grimey Dubstep EP through Italian label Young NRG Productions that you can pick up now on Juno, Beatport, Dogs On Acid and Track It Down.


C.R.S.T. are fast becoming the number one Future Garage crew of choice, okay so the majority come from Barry rather than Cardiff but for arguments sake we’ll claim a 10 mile radius for our own. They have adorned many a recent mix including the opening track of Doorly’s new Reclaim The Dancefloor CD. They’ve also provided bubblin hot remix of the new Count & Sinden track featuring the Mystery Jets that Annie Mac recently posted on her site as a free download. Here’s that tune along with their latest mix and a few extra bits and pieces. Make sure you look out for their forthcoming releases on Car Crash Set, Well Rounded and Ten Thousand Yen.

Undoubtedly one of our favourite rappers from the scene, Blaktrix is due to drop his long awaited album Some People Never Go Crazy at the end of this year. As a warm up he has compiled a selection of unreleased and previously vinyl only tracks into a kind of story so far ‘mixtape’ called The Houdini Footprints of Some People Never Go Crazy. These tracks include a couple of Monky and Stagga’s earlier productions and the Monky ones in particular still bang hard, have a listen for yourself then grab the whole lot from the Blaktrix Website.

Finally for now, although Stagga has since relocated to Berlin he still has his hands and heart deep in the area as this new killer Grime / Dubstep / Hip-hop track featuring Skamma and Joe Blow from the Squid Ninjaz shows. This is ridiculously beastly.

Always taking things one step further, High Rankin uses rather ungentlemanly tactics in his latest beatdown by kicking you in the face whilst your down on the floor laughing. Bastard. The punches come thick and fast too but to perhaps soften the blow or maybe as the coup de grace on his UFC style mix, he is giving away the first track here as a free download. It's not quite a consolatory pint but it does make the big man come off as a fairly decent chap. Kinda like Nino Brown giving away free turkeys at Christmas in New Jack City... oh yeah he's also re-launching his label Suicide Dub with a compilation of his dodgy mates. The music's amazing but you wouldn't want them round your nan's house.

A new Fre-Release blog-label called Scattermusic have just dropped an exceptional offering from Brazillian baille-tech producer Edu K. As well as the original big but minimal (ah we love a good contradiction in our tunes) cheeky double header of Ja, Mann! and Jumpin n Pumpin there's a bunch of remixes in various flavours from: Mom & Dad; Slap & Dash; Dubbel Dutch; WILDLIFE!; and Femme En Fourrure not to mention this excellent bashy riddim from Aussie based producer Lewis CanCut with the choice of two vocalists riding on top.

This track has been floating around for a while for those lucky enough to catch it but now it's the first official leak from Caspa's forthcoming album. We've always got a soft spot for Dynamite MC here at Chrome Kids, you're kind of guaranteed a beats gonna be banging if he's bothered to bless it. Thankfully after one or two disappointing excursions we're also pleased to say we wholly approve of this rather Crunkish offering from Caspa, who gives a spooky spin on it in keeping with his friendly ghost moniker.

if you have been looking closely enough you may have found some dangerously thumpin' Dubstep tunes from Ruckus & Roke hidden away in the depths of the blogosphere, doing major damage to anything they pass through. Just incase you haven't we've got a few scooped up in one hefty heap ready to squash your speakers.

Firstly over at Rub A Dub Dub we found a sick skanker in the shape of Screwface and ESP which is like a fairy with concrete boots as it tries to float off whilst being tied firmly to the depths.

We got a heavy bag of Dubstep for you today people, some chilled some fire for the floor but all help to highlight why the scene is literally taking over right now.


First up is something a little different from the massive jump up remixes we've come to know and love from Doorly. Bit more of a slowly intense grinding smoulderer but no less impact, as he takes on the new Basement Jaxx track Raindrops out on XL Recordings.

Widdler has been busy finishing up the recording of his deep and dark concept album called Origin and will also be releasing some of his older tracks such as Go Ask Alice on a louder, meaner, and more party oriented album. Hopefully he should also be dropping Froggy Style within the next few months with remixes from Zeno, hd4000 and Tekstep remixes.

One of Italy's premier Dubstep groups, Numa Crew EP have just dropped their first full length album on Florida based label FoulPlay Dubstep and have this handy little promo put together by label boss Prolific as an introduction.

Lking the classic electro sound to this new Chew Fu remix of Cunninlynguist, Mr. SOS’s track Bionic off his debut solo album, How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb, which has been retitled here as Welcome To The Future (hmm, post ironic maybe).

Chew Fu finally getting some well deserved major props for his remixes with Interscope hitting him up for a new Lady Gaga remix, which you might have caught leaked to the Sheena Beaston blog (before Chew Fu had even heard the final mix, damn she fast). Those who can remember as far back as our third ever post might recall a heavyweight track from Munich producer Sepalot featuring Brooklyn bad boy rapper Saigon. Did It Again was off Sepalot's Red Handed album, a twisted blend of Electro Breakbeats and Hip-hop that came out late last summer and a couple of months back he released Part 1 of his Red Handed Remixes from the likes of AC Slater, Rob Threezy and Hanzolo. Now it's time for Part 2 as LAZRtag, Barletta, Zed Bias, and Migumatix Electrofunk amongst others step to the boards to give their own interpretations. The EP will be out on June via those fine purveyors of Nu Jazz and Electronic music Compost Records.

Here's one of the tracks off the compilation and a short mix featuring a selection from both Parts 1 and 2.

Big and brutal with a sideline in bounce is the general order of the day with this Dubstep mix from Stenchman although there is moments of depth and reflection which stop it from being too relentless.... still damn stinkin'though.

Been watching out for their album on Big Dada, which features (amongst others) Sway, Ce'Cile and Durrty Goodz for some time and it seems to have snuck past us somehow, not too clear if it's out yet or not but if so... grab it now!

Not sure quite when it dropped, but just been made aware of this free album from Error Broadcast Collective, an Experimental Hip-hop label who have sourced some great glitchy, minimal beats from every corner of the globe for this release and also plan a limited edition of vinyl 7''s to correspond.
