New single here from the Madlib produced album In Search Of Stoney Jackson from LA 'super-group' Strong Arm Steady (now minus Xzibit) due out on Stones Thrown in the near future. The track features the ever soulful Phonte from Little Brother who compliments the depth of the track perfectly. There's also a non-album track Follow Me, a gritty little blunted ride through their mind state. Both have been cleaned up to broadcast friendly status for all you radio peeps.

Lex Recordings are set to drop a new EP from our favourite faceless rhyme fiend, DOOM. The GAZZILLION-EAR' EP will drop digitally on December 6th, with the original version produced by J Dilla and remixes from Thom Yorke, Jneiro Jarel & Dave Sitek, Dr Who Dat? ...and a bonus beat produced by DOOM himself. good news in itself, but if you sign up to the mailing list you get the exclusive MADVILLAINZ (Madlib & DOOM) remix not available anywhere else...

If you've not yet picked up the Beep Tape from Four Tet, Caribou, and Madvillain collaborator Koushik then you have a few days left to download the whole album for free from the Stones Throw website. 30 tracks deep of short instrumental tracks, the longest coming in at only 1m33secs. Some funky, some glitchy and some rather odd but all a must for connoisseurs of off-key instrumental Hip-hop. So waste no time and head over there before the week is up. Here's a few of our choice cuts.

Don't know much about Small Eyez except that, he's from outta Atlanta, has a good ear for a beat and drops the kind of big, natural and confident rhymes that make it sound like he could blow up any minute. Watch this space.

Just got back from Electric Picnic, everything's still a little fuzzy so I'm not ready to give the full run down, think I might have to wait til I get back from Bestival and have some kind of 'festival-off' between the two as Bestival has been my favourite for a few years now but Electric Picnic certainly put up a good challenge, so we'll see how this weekend pans out.

In the meantime I just had this track through from the forthcoming Madlib album 'WLIB AM: King Of The Wigflip' which is the latest and apparently final addition to BBE's 'Beat Generation' series (Dilla, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Spinna, Pete Rock are some of the previous contributors) and will be released on September 30th.

The album features Talib Kweli, Guilty Simpson, Prince Po, Murs, Oh No, Frank N Dank, MED and Stacy Epps amongst others and with complete musical freedom for Madlib promises to be a true banger... my only issue I still have with Madlib is the same as Flying Lotus and a few others, even with my short attention span I generally want tunes longer than a minute and a half... maybe 2 minutes at least, it would make it easier to drop them in clubs without having to have some idea what you're gonna play beforehand.
