As the summer offically starts pretty miserably weather wise for some people, iamxl drops a brand new mix that makes it all sunshine and beaches with a jacking blend of Electro coated Reggae, Funk, Jazz, Hip-hop and Pop. Although the man from Vancouver has been hitting us up with plenty of his own remixes over the past few months this is his first mixtape outing since last year's Back To Berlin, a most welcome return indeed.

South African crew P.H. Fat have always lived up to their name so far and this big bad and bass heavy thumper doesn't disappoint, definitely underlining our assertion that Cape Town is just about running things in the Bass scene right about now .

Think I might remember hearing a story about Tom Waits getting really wankered in Fabric when all of a sudden one of the Deejays, dragged him onstage to sing a little something over his set and this is the result... okay it's not, and that situation never did happen... but it could have and this could be.

iamxl takes the Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five original, cooks it up with some baking soda and returns with Crack House.

Hardcore fans might not want to imagine the idea of a John Lennon B'more remix and this track might not be for hardcore B'more fans either but iamxl's version of Woman is obviously done out of love for the original, and although this is something a little different for iamxl, we think it's a fair translation.

In his latest selections iamxl harks back to the days when he used to make mix tapes with two cassette decks, have Boyz N The Hood on repeat and upset his parents by blasting Gangsta rap at full volume. These cheeky little Electro refixes of some Hip-hop classics from the Vancouver veteran bubble along nicely enough with the Ice T and Too Short mixes but for us it’s all about the King T and Run DMC remixes that get just that extra bit dirtier and are aimed firmly at making sure those feet are on the floor and hands are up in the air.
