Download Our 'Complete' Radio 1 Hip-hop Mix

As I'm sure any regular readers will already be aware, last month we recorded a Welsh Hip-hop mix for new music guru - Rob Da Bank's BBC Radio 1 show. If you did happen to miss us showcase the wealth of talent and diversity apparent in the scene in Wales then worry not as here it is in it's full glory. It's still radio friendly but also includes a track at the end which might not be... more is explained after the tracklisting.

(Zshare) Chrome Kids - Enter The Dragon (Welsh Hip-hop Mix for BBC Radio 1)

Here’s a quick interview with Rob Da Bank that preceded the mix when it went out on the Radio:

Mudmowth's 'Skullcrackology' was chopped from the original mix for being too damn offensive by the BBC in a post Manuelgate environment, but we figure you lot are made of stern enough stuff to handle it. The PLO produced banger was taken from Mudmowth's new 5 track EP 'Circus In The Cemetry' which you can grab now, on collectable white vinyl, complete with cover artwork from the incredible Mister Shrew, from the Associated Minds Store (including a free signed CD copy)or digitally on iTunes.

Triple Chrome Dipped

Think it would be wrong not to feature a video called Triple Chrome Dipped here on Chrome Kids. Especially one as good as this nostalgic collaboration between Ghostly Int. artist Michna and Philly-based video artist System D-128.

Here's a little more info:

"Filmed entirely on a Hi8 analog camcorder purchased in 1989, the footage shows flashes of Adrian Michna's youth from 1989 to 1995: the local pizza shop; the Metro North from Westchester through the Bronx and into Manhattan; skateboarding through Brooklyn; Michna's little brother staging toy-robot wars; band practice; doing donuts in high-school parking lots."

Raffettie's Rouge Element

Think some bastard might have stolen Wednesday. Or one of those mid-week days that could quite easily be slipped into time's pocket and stowed away to create longer weeks for workers. This might be a good thing for those who already count down the days til the weekend, maybe you already noticed but just weren't willing to say anything. Either way I hope you're happy cos the week's been cut short and once again it's Friday. We didn't even tell you about last Friday's Radioclit gig in Birmingham.yet. Well that's probably blown it, there's far too much to look forwards to in a weekend to start reminiscing about what's already happened on previous ones so in brief.

(YSI) Bonde Do Role - Gasolina (Radioclit Remix)

To be honest, didn't actually manage to catch Radioclit. Who cares though whenRaffertie was taking care of the back room with a jump around, wave your hands in the air and spill your drinks every where like you just don't care type set. Sonically surfing from: Old Skool Rave; to Garage pitched up around the 146bpm mark; to the kind of Dubstep that makes you nod your head so hard you look like a constipated turkey; and into some jump up Jungle. Anybody who's heard his fantastic productions might already have some insight into his teeth clenchingly good blend of bonkers, basslines and bad man. For those who don't (and well okay for those who do still) here's his brand new remix of 'The Hive' by Rogue Element. Watch out though, this is like an attack by Cyborg Killer Bees with Chainsaws, in the best possible way.

Talking Milanese

Keep an eye out for a new EP coming soon on Square Records from UK super Producer Milanese. With some classic previous releases on Warp and Planet Mu that have pushed the boundaries of what he terms ‘UK Bass Music,’ the new EP has a lot to live up to but early signs are good indeed.

Milanese has been working with South African rapper Ben Sharpa on tracks and at least one ‘Reload Beat’ has made it onto the EP. The track is a dark grinding, hop, glitch and jump type tune that wouldn’t sound out of place bumping out of a Mad Max vehicle. You can check it out on Milanese’s MySpace… trust me this is BIG.

I’ve heard one other collaboration called ‘Wonderful World’ up on Sharpa’s MySpace which is a lovely Industrial Grime track with a bounce like a turbo injected pogo stick on a brothel bed, but not sure if that’s going to be included on the Milanese EP or not.

Here’s an earlier Milanese track featuring Virus Syndicate that came out on Planet Mu

(YSI) Milanese & Virus Syndicate – You Can’t Remix

And a rockin’ 40 min mix from Milanese

Milanese – Electronic Explorations

And speaking of both Virus Syndicate and Planet Mu, look out for the Manchester Grime crew’s second album on the label ‘Sick Paye’ dropping some time next month.

But for now here’s a heavy little mix that the Syndicate’s producer MRK1 has cooked up featuring vocal duties from JSD.
