Well looks like we've got a load of catching up to do in regards to the Bodhi boys, can't keep up with them! So just in case you haven't been keeping an eye, here's a few things they've been up to recently.
First of all is their new single 'Culture / Deliquesce' on Sinden's 'Grizzly' label which dropped this week along with this video for 'Culture'. The video is a collaboration with Chrome Kids resident artiste, Snowskull and the EP itself has been getting some major love from the likes of Skream, FaltyDL, Giles Peterson, Machinedrum and Rob Da Bank (who has booked them for his incredible Bestival festival which we rocked a Chrome Kids set at a couple of years back).
Then of course there's this free download from XLR8R of the Bambanou remix. There's also a wicked Ifan Dafydd remix which you might have caught on our last Radio Show.
Finally there's this mix they cooked up for Mixmag, who gave a glowing review to the EP (big ups to Joe Muggs).
I'm sure there's something we've missed but that should keep you lot busy for now.
It's all change up on here, we'll be back in a couple of months but we're still active on our Facebook Groups, If you haven't joined any of them then this is the kind of thing you've been missing recently.

Kastle is fast becoming one of our favourite producers and Seclusiasis have proven themselves once again to be the perfect link between the street, the club and the chin stroking anorak massive with their latest release, strutting around 6 tracks deep, with a completeness that is commendable considering it's contrasts. We have excess love for the title track which is classic UKG 2-Step stretched between a modern Glitch coating and stabs of rave influence and also 'Bring Me Back', which marches around powerfully around the Grime, Broken Beat, Dubstep and Garage territories. I think a favourite though may possibly be found in 'Walking Away', which ventures confidently into the realms of daytime radio, with a sweetly sung hook and rapper Armanni Reign effortlessly and skillfully tripping rhymes over a Summertime sanctioned crisp half-step beat.
The fellas have given us a copy of 'I Know' to give out from the EP, it's a clean purple tinted rave outing that sways around with it's hands in the air before jumping into a 2-step demon that is guaranteed to decimate a dancefloor.

you can grab the EP everywhere on Vinyl and Digital from June 6th or over on Juno Download now.
Good Monday people, hopefully you will have recovered from this Weekend's festivities in tine for the coming Bank Holdiay weekend, as we are programming an event at Cardiff Arts Institute from Friday to Sunday. Many of the acts playing will be recognisable to our regular readers and if you are anywhere near the vicinity would be great to see you all. Here's the info...

Cardiff Arts Institute, 29 Park Place. CF10 3BA

The Welsh Electronic scene has truly coming into it’s own over the past few years. As musical genres overlap and intertwine, particularly after the Bass music scene in general’s mass migration from formulaic Dubstep, so Wales’ tight knit community of producers and DJs become ever closer, more open and undoubtedly stronger. As celebration of this fact we have brought some of the top artists from the scene together for a long Bank Holiday weekend of showcases, secret sets and a whole lot of drinking and dancing.
We have 3 Secret headliners, all well established acts at the top of their game, plus: Modeselektor’s label signings Doc Daneeka and Ben Damage showcase their new live set ahead of their Melt! Festival debut in Berlin; one of the city’s most forward thinking producers, Monky gets set to show why his future blend of bass heavy beats have been getting so much love across the electronic music world; Cardiff 2 Step tearaways Didz & Chico bring a little ‘something new’ to the table; Chrome Kids drop a rare appearance ahead of shows in Glastonbury and Bestival over the summer; experimental circuit benders Zwolf, STD and Mr Healan step out of the Hip-hop shadows into something altogether more interesting; former CRST member Ratcatcher (Rodski) and Owain K hold it down for the current generation of House producers; whilst Juvenile Scum head honchos and Dirty Sanchez DJs Telegram From The Queen, to quote Redman, ‘come to throw a little mud in this mother**ker’ and make sure proceedings don’t get too serious. With many more up and coming DJs and producers, just starting to cement their reputations as ones to watch also on the bill, this is undoubtedly going to be a great marker on where the scene is now and where it’s heading. There’s plenty more information on each act, as well as free downloads, streaming tracks and videos over at the Cardiff Arts Institute blog http://cardiffartsinstitute.org
More info can be found on the Cardiff Arts Institute Website.

Although we may be slightly biased due to their support of our family members, the RoboxNeotech label never fails to satisfy, and they’ve smashed it once again with the new EP from Russian/Siberian crew, Demokracy. Like all RoboxNeotech releases there’s the feeling of little machine babies being born and slowly opening their eyes into a strange world of humans. As the track’s name might suggest, it’s cold, like Narnia under the Snow Queen but with a warm sub that heats up your insides from the bottom of the soul to the tip of your strings. This can also be said of the Bass Science remix except he brings elements of mutant rave to the proceedings whilst Monty Clunk come with some drunken cyber-step, puking out circuits like it’s just downed 20 pints of battery acid. All are definitely worth picking up, but the fellas are offering out this moody little low-riding Glitch hop number from Dies Irae as a freebie taster.
Download: Demokracy - Wintermute (Dies Irae Remix)
Still on a winter vibe, this garage-esque track from Hackman has everything right for the season: Warmth; chills; reflection; depth; stillness; but with a driving pulse that beats a path, full steam to spring. First caught him on Fabric’s (should bloody well be) seminal Elevator compilation and it is they whom are offering this out, along with the information that you may catch him in the club’s Room 3 on Fri Jan 14th alongside such luminaries as Horsepower Productions, El-B, Oris Jay and Seiji.
Download: Hackman - Fists Of Ham
And finally, as vocalists finally catch onto the fact that producers have been steaming ahead of them on the underground circuit, the latest in a line of ones to watch (and rightly so), Alex Clare is offering up his latest track 'Relax My Beloved', for free download from his Myspace page. This is incredibly heart warming / breaking electronic encased blues and soul stuff and we’re definitely interested to hear the Diplo & Switch produced long player that’s due out on Island this year.

Things seem to be busy in Cardiff this summer and we've had a number of various gems from our home town which we keep meaning to post. Here's a selection of some and we shall post a bunch more on Tuesday. Hopefully you would have already caught the new Monky, Paul B and Dead Residents mixes we posted recently. If not grab them here.
A few regular readers may remember previous tracks from Cardiff based duo Shadow Law (aka Lex Umbra). Well producer / rapper Ming from the pair has just released a grimey Dubstep EP through Italian label Young NRG Productions that you can pick up now on Juno, Beatport, Dogs On Acid and Track It Down.
C.R.S.T. are fast becoming the number one Future Garage crew of choice, okay so the majority come from Barry rather than Cardiff but for arguments sake we’ll claim a 10 mile radius for our own. They have adorned many a recent mix including the opening track of Doorly’s new Reclaim The Dancefloor CD. They’ve also provided bubblin hot remix of the new Count & Sinden track featuring the Mystery Jets that Annie Mac recently posted on her site as a free download. Here’s that tune along with their latest mix and a few extra bits and pieces. Make sure you look out for their forthcoming releases on Car Crash Set, Well Rounded and Ten Thousand Yen.

Undoubtedly one of our favourite rappers from the scene, Blaktrix is due to drop his long awaited album Some People Never Go Crazy at the end of this year. As a warm up he has compiled a selection of unreleased and previously vinyl only tracks into a kind of story so far ‘mixtape’ called The Houdini Footprints of Some People Never Go Crazy. These tracks include a couple of Monky and Stagga’s earlier productions and the Monky ones in particular still bang hard, have a listen for yourself then grab the whole lot from the Blaktrix Website.

Finally for now, although Stagga has since relocated to Berlin he still has his hands and heart deep in the area as this new killer Grime / Dubstep / Hip-hop track featuring Skamma and Joe Blow from the Squid Ninjaz shows. This is ridiculously beastly.

This week on the Chrome Mansion's stereo are our Swansea bredren Doc Daneeka has a new EP ready to drop but before that hits the streets he's the latest heartbeat in FACT Magazine's pulse locating finger mixes; on the lower reaches of the BPM scale, Candian Turbo Crunk pioneer Hovatron has put together a phat selection of neck snapping beats for the Lowriders Collective (we should be playing with those guys in Bristol sometime in April so look out for that one); and Baobinga proves his bass seeking, floor filling prowess once again with a big bag a dubz n stuff from his Build label and assorted high ranking amigos.

We've been loving the first release due to drop on One4Ho, a new label from Mai Harper and Sophie Ruston (aka Ghettozoid). The track from Ghettozoid herself is called Seeking and is on some future garage space age flex, carrying some serious sonic depth with a fairly sinister bassline rumbling out out like a school of whales floating through the sonar system, whilst our favourite Bristolian diva Yolanda manages to add both upliftment and melancholoy, as she effortlessly stretches her rich soul vocals to the outer reaches of the universe.
Zoid Soundcloud bounce by GHETTOZOID
Our favourite mix however is from Blue Daisy with a tripped out excursion, building up a bed of a crisp static crunch and dublike echoes. As if the tune had been dropped into a K hole and managed to float around in it without confusion, paranoia or looking like a complete c**t.

For a bit of a look inside Blue Daisy's head check out his mix for URB that we picked up at Robot Koch's Robots Don't Sleep blog recently.

I have to admit I have something of a soft spot for 2 Step Garage, it was the first music to come through the club speakers at the start of the last decade and thanks to an old mix CD I dugout before heading from city to city this new years it was the last music I really bubbled to at the end of the decade too. Not that this is an admission of guilt, after all I'm in good company with my ...., seems like a large section of the discerning club crowd have fallen back in love with the sound. As if to highlight the point our first post of the year is a mix of Nu-skool 2 step grooves going into a tropical leaning sound from C.R.S.T. from South Wales, whose members are made up of CK favourites Chesus & Rodski, Tony Blitz and J.D.S. All tracks are from the crew except one solo one (see below) from Chesus, who some of the you might recognise as being the alter ego of Metabeats, we told you he was gonna be one to watch this year and it looks like we're heading for a satisfied smug tone for our 2010 round up. From what we understand also, a couple of these tracks should soon seee the light of day courtesy of the fellas at No Hats No Hoods but more info on that as it comes.

Okay so we're possibly way off remit here but f**k it that's the joy of blogs, we can basically do what we want... long as it's good of course. This is indeed set to be a good night by the looks of things. Probably most enticing for us are The Correspondents who we've played with a couple of times over the last year or so. Mixing up Swing era steeze with Hip-hop swagga and a touch of Drum N Bass Charleston, these fellas are some of the most fun you can have in a dance as long as you leave your serious hat at home and let loose a little bit. Add to the line up some of the filthiest funkalicious Fidget / Electro courtesy of 2 Bit Thugs, XFM favourite’s The London Punks and a man with tunes even bigger than his hairdo (which is pretty massive), Benji Boko who can count DJ Yoda, Nightmares on Wax and Faithless amongst his fan base and you have what should shape up to be a flavoursome night of fun indeed. Here's the full details and a tune from our favourite Thirties throwbacks...

Having been out to a string of average, apathetic and just plain empty nights of late it is refreshing that there are nights such as Bigger Than Barry to restore our faith that the party proper still exists. We hit their night at The Rainbow Warehouse in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago and had a great time, secret special guests came in the shape of Toddla T (whose firing set instigated a mosh pit) and Annie Mac who brought along the beautiful, bashy and blazing hot Lady Chann on mic duty... you know a night's going well when you can afford to keep guests like these a secret. Elsewhere the likes of Doorly and Tomb Crew tore it up whilst Scarlet Harlots proved themselves to be one of the best young indie rock (for want of better pigeon-holing) bands on the circuit.
Anyway, part of the reason these guys know how to put on a top class night is they have their ears finely tuned to the dancefloor, and they are now putting their learned lugholes to further use by starting up a label. We don't have much info on it but we do have these Dubstep reworkings of some 2 Step classics to give you courtesy of the BTB boys. These tracks have already been getting support from all of the DJs we mentioned.

Some of you may have caught this guy in our latest chart, but we have a couple more tracks to give away from Polish producer Spox, whose background in the Warsaw Hip-hop and Free Party scenes probably helps to endear him to our ears, although both of these tracks are on a Dubstep tip with an Old Skool Rave twist.

Contender for album of the year has to be DJ Vadim's U Can't Lurn Imaginashun out on BBE. With an already impressive back catalogue of beefed up digital beats featuring a wide range of worldwide talent, and in the face of a whole string of adversities including his recent battle with eye cancer, this album is most definitely a case of lion going from strength to strength. For us one of the stand out tracks is the mix of acoustic reggae vibes and tongue trippin' rhymes that make up the track Soldier, a refix of the track Soldat by Ukrainian duo 5Nizza, with added phat beats and additional vocals from Big Red (not to be confused with the British rapper of the same name) out of seminal French Ragga Hip-hop crew Raggasonic.
(YSI) DJ Vadim ft. Wretch 32, Kyza and Orifice Vulgatron - Soldier (The Last Skeptic Re Re Remix) / alt link
We're not sure exactly how much has changed from the original remix (are you confused yet?) but it seems that the UK version keeps hardly anything from the original, which is a shame but then with emcees such as: new Grime golden boy, Wretch 32; Kyza, who seems to have made it his mission to out do the rest of his former Terra Firma family (and is doing a good job at it too); and of course the mighty Orifice Vulgatron from Foreign Beggars, it stands up as a strong seperate track in it's own right. As the name suggests this is a remix of the remix (of the refix) in a UK Garage meets UK Funky (meets UK Hip-hop) style from The Last Skeptic, who has graced us with some incredible versions of various tracks lately (Marina & The Diamonds, Mongrel) and is just finishing off an album of them at the moment.
