F**king Dino-Sized Beats

Mochipet just slammed us with the first single to his forthcoming album 'Rawr Means I Love You' due out later this year. 'Whomp-a-saurus Sex Party', as the name suggests is like an orgy between the Dinobots (well the Triceratops one was called 'Slag'). Incidentally, the T Rex one, Grimlock, is one of the only toys that I still hold from my childhood. Him and the big snail looking Zoid... ah and Ma Mutt (was he even a proper Thundercat character?)! All of whom could probably gate crash this particular gang bang and still not make it any less filthy.

The single has already reached #1 on Addictech so to celebrate, it shall be given away to fans via SoundCloud as soon as it hits 5069 plays. However, you can pick it up now on with some beastly remixes from the likes of Freddy Todd, Ill-esha and Ben Samples.

Happy New Year

Right lets jump straight into the New Year. We got some big tunes for you all from some friends and family, so here's to a big 2011 for you all.

Astroid Boys spent the last day of 2010 in the Studio so that they can start the year with a fresh tune for you all. Over some 'dutty stinkin' beat from Curtamos, the boys bring some 'rawdiness' to the proceedings with this one.

Rawdeee (FREE/DOWNLOAD) HAPPY NEW YEAR BOOM ! (CURTAMOS PRODUCTIONS) by Astroid Boys

Mochipet invokes the spirit of the now deceased caffeine heavy US energy drink Four Loko with this hyper crunked up remix of Oakland's Hottub.

The Glitch Mob have had a great year and so as a thank you to all the people who supported them through it they're giving away the version of Drive It Like You Stole It that could be found on their Drink The Sea Part 2: Mixtape

We've also had a great year, albeit something of a blur now. If you need a little recap on what's been going on in the wider world in 2010 (or at least in the UK), here's our amigo Mystro with his UK 2010 Rap Up.

Get Ready To (Crunk) Rock

First up is a titan clash between Mochipet and Kraddy as the Glitch Mobster takes on a track from the Glitch Godzilla's Master P on Atari album. He's not the only one either, Master P On Atari Transformed Vol. 1 which is out now on Daly City Records also features the likes of Restiform Bodies, S.P.E.C.T.R.E. and Sub Swara.

From Daly City To The Land Of Animation

Daly City explores something of a deeper sensitive side to their soul with their new signing, London producer MusSck. Still keeping it glitchy and in the realm of Hip-hop's cyborg reconstruction, this album is more subtle then previous label releases, conjuring up open rolling virtual plains to wander through. Playful yet emotional, there appears to be a fairly comprehensible story being told from track to track and chapter to chapter, let's hope there's many more volumes to come.

You can buy The Land Of Animation now here, but to give you a taster here's one of the tracks plus a promo mix to check out.

Spoek Your Mind

We mentioned in our 2009 round up, the extra prolific nature of Spoek Mathambo, and just to highlight our point here's just a few of the projects that have caught our attention recently which have addded Spoek sparkle to their merits.

First up those bass hungry Bavarians Schlachthofbronx have a new EP out on Man Recordings, they hit us up with the title track Ayoba (a South African slang expression used for general appreciation) which features Spoek along with Gnucci Banana on a tropical hype tip.

Schlachthofbronx "Ayoba" feat. Spoek + Gnucci Banana by MANRECORDINGS

plus here's a video they recorded for the track

Next up, is a new EP from LA based rapper Subtitle, which as well as boasting a beat selection from the likes of Bearmod and Megasoid has this Mochipet produced bass bubbler featuring a killer vocal line up of Cadence Weapon, fellow Briefcase Rocker , Juan Huevos and of course Mr Mathambo himself.

Download: Subtitle feat Cadence Weapon, Juan Huevos & Spoek - 4 On The Floor / alt link

Finally is an EP we discovered at South African music blog Electro Trash from Sweat X (Spoek and Markus Wormstorm). Unfortunately the file is bringing up error messages but it might work for you guys, If anyone has any other links to this EP hit us up.

Reverse Engineering Moving Forwards

Avante-garde French Hip-hop stable Jarring Effects are to release the next album from Swiss beatstrumentalists Reverse Engineering early next year. Highly Complex Machinery, the follow up to their 2006 debut Duck & Cover will feature vocal contributions from Anti Pop Consortium's M.Sayyid, Croatian rapper Diyala and DJ Vadim favourite Blu Rum 13, their primary rhyme collaborator so far. As a taster to their sound they've just uploaded a promo package of goodies onto their Soundcloud page, with an unofficial Mochipet remix, and a few other unreleased gems. There's also a taster of their new material with Socially Acceptable, a savagely broody Glitch hop head nodder.

CKFR # 5 DJ 0.000001 & Mochipet - Eazy E On Atari

Eazy E was the first to admit that he wasn’t exactly a role model. Yet that didn’t stop millions of teenagers kids all across the world looking up to the alter-ego of business brain Eric Wright and agreeing that this was indeed one gangsta muthafucka worthy of respect. Many hardcore Hip-hoppers have since cursed the day that guns, bitches and bling became one of the cornerstones of the movement, but secretly they were never directing their ill feelings towards originators such as Eazy E. Without him Ice Cube would probably still be ripping off the Beastie Boys, Dr Dre might still be wearing make-up and both Yella and MC Ren would have disappeared without trace (okay so that happened anyway but you get the drift). He carried an arsenal of guns bigger than he was, had money coming out of every orifice and pussy falling out of his pockets but still managed to donate millions to charities, and regularly took orphans on field trips. Sadly, in a cruel twist of irony, his passion for ‘pussy’ caught up with him and in 1995 he died of AIDS, leaving a bullet sized hole in the Hip-hop world, and spreading fear across anyone in LA who had neglected to use a condom recently.

Now thanks to a rare 92 accapella and the kind of electronic re-engineering that only happens to cyborgs in sci-fi movies, ‘the lunatic psycho muthafucka’ is back from the grave, on a mission of sex, death, violence and revenge, all good family entertainment as usual. Mixes come in a glitched up and bouncy style from Eprom, a juggernaut driving DJ 0.000001 mix for those long lonely highways and a huge Mochipet mash up of the two that comes stomping in like an electronic Hip-hop slaughter fest. Think Ed 209 Versus Robocop or one of the missing evil Decepticons that turns into a crunked up Monster Truck with speakers in its rims.

"That's very fucking rude!" Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1)

This EP is the latest in our Fre-Release series that started with a previous DJ 0.000001 track and has since included Stagga, zwolf and Th’ Mole. Look out for plenty more lined up over the rest of the year.

Dirty Weekend

It's been a long weekend, one which we shall tell you all about soon, but first we have an inbox overflowing with great tracks so we figured we'd share a few of our favourites with you.

It's perhaps too soon to call Hovatron a legend, especially when he's still living in the future, but we were undoubtedly over-pleased to recieve this track from the esteemed member of Montreal's seminal Turbo Crunk crew, especially as it's such a beauty. Think the Mystery Machine members from Scooby Doo investigating an Acid House rave in an abandoned fairground that has been haunted by an evil Hyphy Monster, and that pretty much sums up the vibe of this one.

(YSI) Hovatron - Gypsy Trader / alt link

The track is taken from a self release that he's just dropped on his Myspace, go and check it out. Also check the page for Hovatron's European Tour dates alongside his fellow Turbo Crunk conspirator Lunice. Here's a little mix from the two of them.

(ZShare) Lunice & Hovatron - Demo Reel

Mochipet just hit us up with a copy of his Mary Anne Hobbs mix from a couple of weeks back. A friggin' evil Dubstep adventure with elements of Crunked up Hip-hop, Rockin' out guitars and of course a touch of Michael Jackson too.

(Direct Link) Mochipet on Mary Anne Hobbs, July 7th 2009 (zip)

16bit will be making their Fabriclive debut this Friday alongside Drop The Lime and Starkey. We shall hopefully see him playing the Music By Numbers night here in Cardiff soon too, as long as some pretty nasty and underhanded promoter politics get's cleaned up properly.

Here's a stinking remix of the Borgore track Foes, that see's a clash of the synths between Dubstep and G Funk. Perfect to play if you happen to be taking a low rider to a demolition derby.

(YSI) Borgore - Foes(16bit Fuck Hoes Remix) / alt link

Our friends over at Attorney Street have dropped their first Digi-12" release from Old Money and have sent us a promo copy of the bonus track to pass out. It's their take on a classic Bon Jovi track, moving it into Electro House territory. One for Saturday night dancefloor filling for sure. You can pick up the 320 version on the Where You Are release, grab it via Paypal here.

(YSI) Old Money - Take My Hand / alt link

Next we have the first in a series of mashups & remixes by Mandrake Sounds. A high energy Electro classic meets a low grumbling Dubstep monster.

(YSI) Afrika Bambaata - Planet Rock (Mandrake Sounds Remix) / alt link

Been a while since we heard from those Texan noise terrorists Chopigula and at first glance they seemd to have mellowed somewhat on their new 12" Magma. But even though the tracks might not carry the organised chaos we've come to know, love and fear, instead leaving space for emcees Zeale and Phranchyze to do their thing, there is still that menacing tribal flavour underlying both of these tracks, so don't say we didn't warn you.

(YSI) Chopigula ft Phranchyze - Pyre Pot / alt link

(YSI) Chopigula ft Zeale - Zapocalypse Dub / alt link

Sweat It Out have just dropped some funk crunching flavour in the shape of Italian producer Pablo Calamari. It has remixes from the likes of Scottie B, DJ Beware and DCUP, so even if you go to the same black market he bought his wife from, you should hunt this down.

(YSI) Pablo Calamari - I Bought My Wife on the Blackmarket (Club Mix) / alt link

Higher Fidelity?

What happens when one of the West Coast's kings of bass heavy beats gets his hands on the Eastern tinted vibes from one of the East Coast's premier party crews? Coast to Coast fire that's what, this is high energy ragga roasted dirt driven flames at their highest and hottest. Taken from the eagerly awaited next installment of Sub Swara's Coup d'Yah Remix collection, Mochipet adds extra weight to an already scale smashing tune.

(YSI) Sub Swara ft MC Zulu - Hi Fidelity (Mochipet Remix) / alt link

We're Playing Master P On Atari

The Daly City don of digitally crunked up dirt and devastation, Mochipet, is back with a new album that's more raw to the core than anything that's come before.

Where as Microphonepet was largely about big beats for the guests to ride on and to be honest Bunnies & Muffins pretty much snuck past us, Master P On Atari is all about gargantuan beats that are so in your face it would be impossible to ignore. They've literally taken over and they're pissed off, ready to trample buildings and fling trucks about. The sound is probably best described by taking random words from the track titles, such as: Hyphy; Turbo; Sumo; Robo; Crunk; Bass; Ghetto; Godzilla; and straight up Full Frontal Face Melt.

Master P On Atari is out July 4th on Daly City. Here's a track from the album...

Plus if like us you need to play catch up slightly, here's a track from the Bunnies & Muffins album, featuring the delightfully dapper genius of Daedelus.

Our First Official Fre-Release

Hello, Good Evening and Welcome to our very first official Fre-Release (no not a Pre-Release, not a Re-Release... a Fre(e)-Release). We've linked up with the fantastic Daly City Records (Mochipet, Th' Mole, Flying Skulls, Preshish Moments) for two single releases from DJ 0.000001 (below) and Th' Mole (on May 4th) that we're bringing to you in the spirit of the blog, absolutely free. We also have EP releases lined up for Zwolf and Stagga, with plenty more waiting to be confirmed. So without further ado...

You should all by now be familiar with the good old DJ friendly Mash-Up. They’ve long been a staple of many a party set, in fact, so long now that it’s about time they were taken to the next level… well thank f**k for DJ 0.000001 [one-millionth] then that’s what we say. Following on from his widely acclaimed releases on Mochipet’s Daly City Records label: Ooh Baby I Like It Hard (an infectious Ol' Dirty Bastard / Matty G / Glitch Mob remix single); and the Whirled Fusion Mix Tape (featuring Th' Mole), comes this brand new big, bad and banging ‘Thrash Up'. 10 tracks that would happily fit into a killer 40 minute set are fused together into one mighty morphing power stomper of a track in the shape of We All Fall Down.

Squeezing the essence of such Chrome Kids favourites as Milanese, Kraddy, Nasty Ways and K-The-I??? into 3 minutes of phat future funk totality, We All Fall Down moves fluidly between the beats and melodies but hits harder than an iceberg being dropped on your cranium. We couldn’t think of a better track for our first official Chrome Kids Fre-Release, plus it comes with an even DJ friendlier acappella and instrumental (which is also handy for the radio) so you can ‘thrash it up’ even further yourselves.

Credits:

Milanese "The Plague" +
Pharoahe Monch "Simon Says (Acapella)" +
Lil Wayne "Lollipop (Nasty Ways Remix)" +
K-The-I??? "400 On The BPM" +
The Cool Kids "88" +
Too $hort "Burn It (Instrumental)" +
Art Of Noise "Moments In Love" +
Noreaga "Super Thug (Instrumental)" +
Benga "26 Basslines" +
Glitch Mob "Crush Mode" (Kraddy "Android Porn") +
additional electronic percussion by DJ 0.000001

We're Definitely Diggin' Th' Mole

Think I might have to install a hotline to Daly City Records if they keep up their current high level of quality output. No sooner have you finished downloading the new Flying Skulls stuff when these rather impressive gems come rolling in like Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom or something. Some may remember we put up a post with the DJ 0.000001 mixtape, Whirled Fusion. A prequel to the new album from Th' Mole which features some of the album tracks along with a mash up of medleys that saw the likes of Rush, Skream, Too Short & Wild Sugar running side by side. It eventually clicked slowly that DJ 0.000001 was infact Th’ Mole himself, another addition to a growing army of alter-egos such as: Captain Daydream; Pierre Johnson; Johnny Sunshine; Turbo Punx; and Experimental Man which punctuate his releases back to 1994.

It is perhaps surprising that within the middle of these personalities lies an endearing honesty in the music and a sound that whilst impossible to pin down, brings a punk ethos a Hip-hop attitude and the weight from the best of the new skool West Coast bass scene. His new album Greatest Hits (Ha Ha Ha) Vol. 1 is a fine combination of classics, remixes and fresh out the box which ranges from the Gypsy stompin’ of Heart Phire to the slow rolling melancholy of Sonny Boy, maintaining an off the wall eclecticism without losing its way at any point.

What’s good about Greatest Hits is it works as a whole album rather than just a loose collection of tracks, although the stand out inclusion for us is probably Jump Jack, where the first lady of Bass herself Warrior Queen orders the listener to “Jump Motherf**ker”. Makes sense then that this is the first single off the album that also comes with a dirty Breaks remix from Daly City head honcho Mochipet, if for some strange reason you weren’t jumping the first time then this mix leaves you no other choice. There’s also a Turbo Crunk remix of Heart Phire from Bearmod which completely flips it on its head, and a crazy home-made video using the Baile Funk remix of Go Horsie from Brazilian legend DJ Amazing Clay . You can grab the whole single package for free from the link below, and keep an eye out for the album dropping sometime soon.

Flying Skulls Ready For Lift Off

Many an old skool Techno producer tried to install a Jazz ethos to the world of computer technology, I’m not convinced any of them truly managed it although I’m sure there are those who would gladly prove me wrong on this. People have found it hard to equate the rigid world of technology with that freestyle spirit, but Flying Skulls certainly help to bridge that gap. For me they might well be the kings of improvisational beat bashing and the two live sets we’ve put up on the blog have been testament to that. It makes sense then that they should release an album of tracks gathered from their live performances. A heavyweight collection of nasty synths, wobbly basslines and crunked out glitchy beats so dirty you'd swear they robbed their MPC players off a crack dealer. J Tonal, Snareface and Jerome Forney are joined by Ribotto and rapperZap Tap , this is Flying Skulls in their element, and whether or not you could class it as strictly a live album, this album is most definitely live. It is also free through the combination of Daly City and 1320 Records so you have no reason not to go grab it right now.

Here's a couple of our choice cuts and a link to the album.
