We posted up some amazing new George Lenton tracks recently, however the powers that be over at the DMCA chose to chop them down... twice. However Lenton is coming like a Hydra at the moment and has grown back many more new tracks with extra teeth.

First up is his remix of The Dream, turning an R'n'B smoocher into a filthy crunked up grind fest... and rightly so.

Next is a rather Funkadelic sounding pop tune from the Sleigh Bells which gets stripped down into a low riding minimal steppers track.

And finally, MIA enters a strange paradox as she puts out a track that sounds like a bad Lady Gaga rip off, which is ironic in the fact that Lady Gaga first came out sounding like a bad MIA rip off. Thankfully George manages to restore some of her credibility back with his heavyweight, almost Bhangraesque remix.

Mondays can be a vicious circle sometimes. We like to post these mixes to help you through this most difficult of days but after a heavy weekend it's tricky to get the motivation up to do that. but he has been having a good old think about maybe being sorry, probably... well this is certainly thinking music at least. A touch more mellow and magical than we've come to expect, you can almost hear somebody recounting their dreams by the side of a mountain lake some place... some place with guns and lazers and big fat booty b**tches...well okay it's not like that at all but we occasionally get that reaction when faced with anything nice and calming for too long.

We've said it before but we'll say it again... buy his Price EP when it drops in the near future.

Couple of Hulk Hop heavyweights pile in with all guns blazing today. First up is the mighty Bassnectar who fixes up the Pixies' Where Is My Mind? into a killer slice of Crunk Rock. George Lenton meanwhile is on similar grounds with his Phar Phar Dec wobbling, bumping and grinding more than a fat hooker on horse tranquilizer. Loving the Big Pun breakdown in the middle too, massive!

First up is a new mix from the fellas over at the Rub A Dub Dub site who were kind enough to host pur mix earlier in the week. Far from being a simple scratchy back situation though this is a full phat selection from a truly dope blog blended with love from Decibel, one of the residents over there and deserves to be pumped at the highest available volume. If you're car only has a shitty system, this is the one time when it is morally right to go steal another one. Second is an excellent mini mix that current Bass blog golden boy George Lenton recorded for Bobby Friction's show on the BBC Asian Network which also has a real short snippet from his new remix for our boy Pete Lawrie which is rather huge too. Catch Mr Lenton live on 28th October in Original Mash @ The Lab, Bristol or 18th November & 16th December in SOME @ The Den, London; lastly is a slice of low-fi riding bleep stomping future funk and Hip-hop from Alex B which he recorded for the Brainfeeder crew. Full of his own productions and snuggles in nicely next to the rest of the family over there.

As promised, bit of a Monday Mixtape special this week as we bring you... Us.

We did this mix for Adam Walton's Mystery Tour show on BBC Radio Wales. Adam's been a strong supporter of many Welsh Dubstep and Hip-hop crew over time, infact he's been a strong supporter of pretty much every good Welsh band out there full stop. He let us run rampant for half an hour and this is the result. We kept it in Dubstep territory this time but with strong Hip-hop and Grime overtones. Starting with the big bass monsters, smoothing out a touch then getting twisted before leaving you on a high note. With a couple of original productions from crew members Monkey & Stagga.

We're coming at you BIG for this Monday Mixtape session, no hiding out in the VIP section or in the Basement this is strictly main room madness. Still that's not to say we're munching on cheese sandwiches, there's more than a fair flood of filth in each mix and what really shines through is the marriage, or at least firm f**k buddying, of Dubstep and Hip-hop that is getting more and more incestuous by the minute. It's also good to see Stagga cropping up in each of these. We kick off with two of our solid favourite phat track flingers and end with some new blood. Look out for a Monday Mixtape special next week from.... us.

Firstly Troublemaker shows off his finely tuned party startin' skills with some neck snapping favourites mixed up with exclusive acapellas and guest appearances from a slew of emcees, such as Adam Tensta, Hollywood Holt, Micah James, Naptron and The 87 Stick Up Kids; secondly, not only has George Lenton proved to be one of our favourite producers of the past few months but he could well prove to be one of our favourite DJs to, with an excellent new journey through the dirty world of bass. Lastly we have a relative newcomer to the blog, LDFD kicks off with relentlessly big productions before easing your eardrums and opening your braincells ready for the week ahead. Not quite as slick as the other two but some fine selections nonethless.

ellesse is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the design competition CREATE TENNIS ART. Uber cool illustrator and typographer Si Scott designed the flyer and will be part of the jury; the iconic Italian sportswear brand has also collaborated with textile print superstar Kate Gibb and Greek animation genius Babis Alexiadis (check his animation here). Two great inspirations to enter the competition!

ellesse is now unveiling the results of a competition organised in collaboration with the London College of Fashion. The brand commissioned students from BA (Hons) Fashion Contour and BA (Hons) Active Sportswear to design a garment that reflects the brand’s heritage in tennis – and the results are rather impressive! The winner of the first prize is Eva Lai who is studying BA (Hons) Fashion Contour. Go Her! The winning designs will feature on the ellesse 50th Anniversary site and will be showed during the ellesse 50th anniversary party in Rome in July 2009. Eva will attend the event in Rome as part of her prize and also receive £1,500 and a fully paid 3 month design-based work placement.


You too could be part of the ellesse 50th anniversary celebrations, win €4,500 and be sent to the ellesse 50th anniversary event where your work will be on display. An opportunity you shouldn’t miss...

All you have to do is create a piece of art or design to commemorate the ellesse 50th anniversary inspired by the brand’s Italian heritage and sporting roots in tennis. The categories for the competition range from fashion and textiles, right through to fine art, sculpture, street art, graphics and digital. Deadline is May 10th and all the details and application form can be found on the ellesse site.

There are two types of people who ask for tunes while I'm deejaying that generally annoy me most: Those who ask for cheesy pop chart hits whilst I'm playing the opposite (funnily enough for the last 8 years the most popular requests of this kind are still Kylie and Madonna, why is that?). These also fall into the "play something we know", "play something we can dance to" or "play something funky" (I always seem to be playing Funk when I get this one, oh the irony)categories; then there are the people who ask for either Justice, Hot Chip or MGMT. Not because I don't like these bands, I do and yes sometimes I'll even play them, but why do the people that ask for them seem to think they are being cool in doing so? Just for the record, you're probably about the 6th person to ask me for that tonight and it shows you up to be as much as a pop tart as the Kylie / Madonna people. Just so you know.

However saying that, if from now on you come up and ask me for this George Lenton remix of MGMT, you are blatantly cool as f**k.

Will get the BBC Introducing show up here soon, having problems with the internet connection here at Chrome Mansions and it won’t upload for that long without resetting the server, but soon. Actually spent most of the day at Radio 1 robbing their new tunes, unfortunately can’t post any up here but came away with some great stuff. One that looked interesting was The King Blues with dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, unfortunately on closer inspection it wasn’t all that and definitely not up to either of the groups’ usual standard. But it did make me do a double take when I saw this remix of The King Blues by George Lenton and I’m glad I did cos it’s killer. He flips Come Fi Di Youts into a glitchy dubbed out Hip-hop stomper which drops like someone just set fire to the pinball machine in the Jerk Chicken takeaway. You can also grab some of his more Electro House style remixes over at his Myspace.
