I first heard the Silverman track Can’t Stand The Rain at Pinch’s Dubloaded night in Bristol a few months back. Ghettozoid was spinning it and I remember getting lost inside its rolling tribal drums, warm electronic mist and melancholy Peebles sample. These days it’s rare that I’ll ask about a certain tune or I’d be hassling the DJ all night but this one I had to know. Ironically it was to be due for release on Ghettozoid’s newly launched One4Ho label and now here it is.

This tune has been receiving play from the likes of Falty DL, Starkey and Clark, who also provides a soul crunching remix that seems to flip the original track’s concept of memory, love and loss into a 3 and a half minute masterpiece of dream like emotional manipulation.

The EP is out on One4Ho on August 1st

Great new video from Matt Humphries called Suspended Dialogue which uses music from our boy Diverse Concepts. The track B r o k E n is part of the Taking Flight EP that we shall be dropping on 22nd March. The EP will also be something of a collaborative project between the two with each track corresponding to a choice photograph around the concept of flight from Matty's stunning portfolio of work.

Monday not treating you so great? Why not get all Arts & Craft and build a tiny set of decks from matchsticks, sticky backed plastic and bottle lids then place your MP3 player underneath out the way but plugged up to your computer speakers (if you have battery powered ones all the better). Dig out your favourite action figure from the box in the attic to act as a DJ, head out into the garden and use these handy mixtapes as sets to play to all the insects... they'll love it.

Or you could just sit at the computer and listen to this fine selection from Bullion (crate digging, chin stroking and beautiful); 1000names (futuristic, head nodding and seriously left of Saturn); or OM Unit (phat, funkalicious and full of All City releases past present and future, including his very own Lightgrids just released on the label) , they'll sound just as good but it's not quite as fun.

Much as we love a good speaker stomping beat and a gut wrenching bassline, it has to be said we were pleasantly surprised that the 3 track Free EP we just caught off the AK Kids (the original Akira Kiteshi pairing of Tommy Forrest and Steven Hyslop) is actually pretty far removed from Tommy's solo stuff. More of an atmospheric journey, a rhythmical soundscape of collected sounds and complimentary frequencies underlined with lush synths and overlayed with static, zen as f**k and recorded in just 3 hours in one take.

As we abstained from last Monday's Mixtape session due to political reasons we have made up for it by giving you a bumper addition this week which includes: our very own Quantum cadet, Monkey with a Dubstep selection he mixed up for 3zee1's show on Sub FM last week; a Take Flight Club mix from Doc Daneeka, who we first came across through his nights at the Monkey Bar in Swansea although we didn't make the link to his latest alias when we first heard Metabeats dropping some of his UK Funkier than though tracks recently; next is Metabeats' Darkhouse Family bredren Don Leisure with the first of a new monthly mix series, dropping some seriosuly tasty Liquid Soul and Future Hip-hop. We then hop over to South Africa as Liver gives us a homegrown mini mix selection from Cape Town and finally, a firm favourite of ours and the first to actually introduce us to Liver, Boom Monk Ben with a killer selection, something of a fusion of all the other mixes in one handy helping.

As promised, bit of a Monday Mixtape special this week as we bring you... Us.

We did this mix for Adam Walton's Mystery Tour show on BBC Radio Wales. Adam's been a strong supporter of many Welsh Dubstep and Hip-hop crew over time, infact he's been a strong supporter of pretty much every good Welsh band out there full stop. He let us run rampant for half an hour and this is the result. We kept it in Dubstep territory this time but with strong Hip-hop and Grime overtones. Starting with the big bass monsters, smoothing out a touch then getting twisted before leaving you on a high note. With a couple of original productions from crew members Monkey & Stagga.
